These pieces are a direct extension of my ongoing explorations in basketry. In the spirit of "artist's choice," each basket is intuitively and uniquely crafted, allowing the materials and the creative process to guide the final form.
When you purchase this basket, you are entrusting us with our vision! You will receive a one-of-a-kind work that is a true and current expression of my craft, meticulously twined with an open weave. Every piece has its own distinct personality, and no two will ever look alike.
Its sculptural form is beautiful as a standalone object. It's not practical for use as a utility piece in any way.
Artisan Made: Designed and handcrafted by Erin and Peggy Pollard and a small team of weavers in Maine and New York.
Materials: 100% Rattan Core, an abundant Climbing Palm grown in South East Asia and sourced through local longtime partners.
Color: We use non-toxic, organic natural dyes and finishes approved by the consumer Product Safety Commission. Each piece is finished in our Maine Studio. Enjoy natural color variations from the plant fibers.
Dimensions: Will vary, ranging from 6" to 12" tall and wide
Care: For indoor use. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Rattan is a natural and flexible plant fiber. If misshapen during use, firmly mold back into place.
Note: Due to the freehand nature of our practice, each basket is one-of-a-kind and may have slight variations in shape and size. We do not use molds - each piece holds the spirit of the maker.
