While clothespins may no longer be a staple in every modern home, in the world of basket weaving, they remain a humble and indispensable tool. We created the "What You Need" Kit to gather all our preferred, hard-working essentials in one place, designed to make your start as seamless as possible.
This curated bundle includes: a sharpened pencil, our custom Underwater Weaving measuring tape, 20 clothespins, our preferred scissors, and the awl we personally use and recommend. These are all items you could source with a little effort, but we've bundled them here to help you bypass the search and get straight to the joy of making.
Note: This bundle is an optional companion for weavers who wish to acquire our complete, preferred toolset. It is not necessary to complete any of our weaving kits. We always include clothespins in any kit that specifically requires them for its pattern.

About Our Colors & Natural Materials
Every basket is woven from natural, mature rattan and hand-finished in our Maine studio, in one of five signature finishes and a range of color combinations. We use non-toxic dyes and finishes that are absorbed directly into the plant fiber.
While we do our best to photograph our colors accurately, rattan is an organic material — slight variations in how each piece absorbs dye are natural and expected. The exact hue may also look a little different depending on your lighting at home. We celebrate these variations: they're part of what makes your basket a structured, functional piece of art that's completely unique to you.
Care
For indoor use. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Rattan is a natural and flexible plant fiber. If misshapen during use, firmly mold back into place.
